Why should I consider replacing my amalgam fillings?
Dental amalgam/mercury fillings are an age-old practice for restoring, or filling, a dental cavity. We don’t use amalgam fillings in our office. Instead, we replace it with the most biocompatible, non-toxic, long-lasting aesthetic materials. Dental amalgams are now replaced with dental composite fillings which are more esthetically pleasing and have similar strength to that of the natural structure of the tooth. Studies have shown that mercury in the amalgam can leach toxic substances into the body that can cause illness to the internal organs hence it is crucial to safely remove amalgam fillings. Our dental office is well-equipped for the safest removal of amalgam. Our team of doctors always follow the proper mercury safety protocols to make sure that none of our patients will suffer from mercury toxicity.
What we do for safe mercury removal
While drilling out the filling, we use a special heavy suction system to remove the mercury instantly and make sure that the left over particles will not enter your body through breathing it. We have installed an amalgam separator to collect mercury amalgam waste to make sure it is not released into the environment. We also use a special high-volume air filtration system to filter any excess mercury safely without it being distributed elsewhere.
