Sealants
A sealant is a plastic material
that is usually applied to the chewing surfaces
of the back teeth—premolars and molars.
This plastic resin bonds into the depressions
and grooves (pits and fissures) of the chewing
surfaces of back teeth. The sealant acts as
a barrier, protecting enamel from plaque and
acids.

In Office Non-Surgical
Periodontal Services (Gum Care)
Periodontal disease (gum disease)
if left untreated can cause tooth loss. The
bacteria causing periodontal disease has shown
to increase the risk of developing heart disease
and has been connected with a higher risk of
premature birth in pregnant woman.
At the early stages gum disease
may present as ‘gingivitis’ where
the gums are inflamed and may bleed. Periodontal
disease is both preventable and treatable. At
every check up appointment you are screened
for periodontal disease. We’ve observed
exceptional results with our non- surgical treatments,
including the latest ultrasonic methods and
a wide variety or irrigants.
Night guards
to protect against Bruxism & TMJ
"Bruxism" means
grinding and/or clenching of teeth. It is considered
a nonfunctional habit of the jaw that can occur
while awake or asleep. Grinding your teeth while
asleep is more of a problem since most people
will grind their teeth much harder than they
ever would while awake. Such "Nocturnal
Bruxism" is a very common sleep behavior
that a many people will experience at some time
in their lives. It often is more evident during
times of personal stress.
A night guard is a thin piece
of hard plastic made from impressions of your
teeth placed on the upper or lower teeth. The
nightguard is hard enough to be durable, but
since it is softer than teeth it will protect
them from wear. When the nightguard is tried
in, it is adjusted to fit your bite evenly and
smoothly.
Often night time bruxism is
accompanied by pain in the jaw joint and/or
muscles. A nightguard is one of the most important
steps in relieving this problem, known as TMD
(temporomandibular disorder). Even if no pain
is present, wearing a nightguard may aid in
preventing the development of this painful problem,
and protect the jaw joints from excessive pressure
that may lead to damage in them.
Bad Breath Treatment
Bad breath can be caused by
various factors. Brushing, flossing and mouthwash
will only mask the odors temporarily. If you
don't brush and floss daily, particles of food
remain in the mouth, collecting bacteria, which
can cause bad breath. Food that collects between
the teeth, on the tongue and around the gums
can rot, leaving an unpleasant odor. At your
cleaning appointment we can remove all the particles.
Bad breath can also be caused by dry mouth (xerostomia).
Dry mouth may be caused by various medications,
salivary gland problems or continuously breathing
through the mouth. If you suffer from dry mouth
Dr Dobee may prescribe you products that may
help you. Bad breath may also be the sign of
a medical disorder if Dr Dobee determines that
your mouth is healthy, you may be referred to
your family doctor or a specialist to determine
the cause of bad breath. Some medications may
play a role in creating mouth odors.
Mouthwashes are generally cosmetic
and do not have a long-lasting effect on bad
breath. If you need extra help in controlling
plaque, we may recommend using a special antimicrobial
mouth rinse.
Sport
Mouthguards
Mouth guards are coverings
worn over teeth, and often used to protect teeth
from injury during sports. An effective mouth
guard should be comfortable, resist tears, be
durable and easy to clean, and should not restrict
your breathing or speech. Mouth guards should
be used by anyone – both children and
adults – who play contact sports such
as football, boxing, soccer, ice hockey, basketball,
lacrosse, and field hockey. However, even those
participating in non-contact sports (for example,
gymnastics) and any recreational activity (for
example, skateboarding, mountain biking).
Fluoride
Treatments
Important for adults as well
as children, especially if you only drink bottled
water which contains no fluoride.
Filings
- Tooth-Colored Fillings - Tooth-colored
(composite) fillings can preserve the natural
look of your smile. They match the tooth perfectly,
and are minimally invasive - meaning less
tooth structure is removed.

Veneers
Veneers are thin shells of
ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces
of the teeth. When bonded to the teeth, the
ultra-thin veneers are virtually undetectable.
The latest forms of veneers called lumineers
are contact lens thin so hardly require removal
of any tooth structure. They are an ideal choice
for improving your smile and have become increasingly
popular due to their simplicity and versatility.
They’ll correct chips, stains and other
confidence-building results in as little as
two visits.
Placing custom veneers requires
a high degree of technical skill as well as
attention to cosmetic detail. Dr. Dobee places
veneers routinely, and designs each case individually
to match and enhance the characteristics of
each patient's smile.
With proper care, porcelain
veneers will brighten your smile for well over
a decade. Dr. Dobee will ensure that your veneers
are crafted from the highest quality materials
and are bonded with the most advanced and proven
materials available. Check
out our smile gallery.
Crowns
As we age, many of us find
ourselves with teeth that are no longer structurally
sound. Root canals, lost fillings, decay below
a filling, chipping and cracking of the enamel
are all things that can lead to large scale
defects in a tooth's surface. When the entire
surface of the tooth is a problem, but the root
system is intact, a crown might be just what
the dentist orders.

Root Canal
Therapy
Root Canal Therapy is treatment
for a "dead" or dying pulp within
a tooth. The causes of pulp (nerves and blood
vessels that keep the tooth alive found deep
within the tooth) death are numerous. The most
common reason a tooth dies is a cavity forming
a deep hole that allows the bacteria found in
the mouth to infect the pulp. Other causes for
pulp death include tooth fracture or cracks
and night time tooth grinding. Once the pulp
becomes infected, it often dies and bacteria
takes over the pulp chamber and canals. By-products
of the bacteria can form a swelling near the
root ends of the tooth that can drain and form
what some call a "gum boil" or abcess.
Dentures
and Partial Dentures
Advancements in technology
have improved the natural beauty, comfort, durability
of dentures.
It's amazing how much whiter,
and sometimes even bigger, new teeth can make
a huge difference in the way you look. Old dentures
and their teeth wear down. This can shorten
the dimensions of your face. As a result, you
look older and more wrinkled. However, by increasing
the dimension between your upper and lower jaw
with our new dentures, we can make you look
and feel years younger.
When a person has lost some
but not all of their teeth, a partial denture
may be the desired treatment choice. In this
situation, partial dentures can provide a simple
and attractive way to replace missing teeth.
Partial dentures are created
from an impression of your teeth and gum which
ensures a synonymous fit with the rest of your
mouth. These appliances are designed to fill
in the empty spaces, and to ensure an attractive,
gap-free smile. Teeth are selected to match
your remaining teeth and complement your individual
appearance. Special care is taken to match the
size, shape, and color to that of your natural
teeth. The result is a seamless replacement
that can blend in with your natural teeth.
Retained by small clasps that
engage the teeth, the denture will secure itself
in your mouth. In the right situation, if properly
designed and constructed, your partial denture
will be both comfortable to wear and will function
in accord with your remaining natural teeth.
Partial dentures will also
help to maintain the spacing of your natural
teeth. When teeth are lost or removed, the remaining
teeth will often shift to eventually fill the
gap created by the lost tooth. This change in
teeth spacing can affect the way you bite.

of whitening.
Bonding
Dental bonding is a special
resin composite that adheres to your teeth and
becomes as hard as your own enamel. Bonding
can solve many cosmetic problems at an affordable
price. Stained, gapped, chipped or mis-aligned
teeth can be bonded to give you a reshaped smile,
usually in one office visit. The color of the
bonding material must match your other teeth
so that it appears natural. This may require
getting your other teeth to a pleasing color
first, through bleaching or other services.
Although bonding is not a permanent solution,
depending on your oral habits it can last up
to 10 years or more before requiring a new treatment.

Invisalign
Invisalign
is the invisible way to straighten your teeth
without wearing conventional metal braces. Invisalign
uses a series of clear, removable custom-made
aligners to move your teeth. Because you remove
your aligners before you eat and drink, there
are no food restrictions or problems with flossing
or brushing. This technology is also more comfortable,
avoiding the mouth abrasions that can be caused
by the metal and wires of conventional braces.
And this technology is also more convenient,
since you are likely to spend less time in our
office getting adjustments.
Once
Dr. Dobee develops a custom prescription for
your mouth, Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging
technology to design the complete treatment
plan. This 3-D imaging allows you to preview
the final positioning of your teeth before you
even start treatment. Each aligner moves teeth
incrementally and is worn for about 2 weeks.
Typically, you will visit us once every 6 weeks
for progress reports. Not every situation can
be treated with Invisalign, so call or e-mail
us for a free evaluation to see if you can be
helped with this new technology.
Tooth
reshaping and contouring
Tooth reshaping, or contouring,
is one of few instant treatments now available
in cosmetic dentistry. Dental reshaping and
contouring is a procedure to correct crooked
teeth, chipped teeth, cracked teeth or even
overlapping teeth in just one session.
The dental contouring procedure
can even be a substitute for braces under certain
circumstances. It is also a procedure of subtle
changes. A few millimeters of reduction and
a few millimeters of tooth-colored laminate
can create a beautiful smile when performed
by a cosmetic dentist, with no discomfort to
you. Tooth reshaping, or dental contouring,
is commonly used to alter the length, shape
or position of your teeth.
Crown
Lengthening
In many cases of dental decay,
tooth fracture, or even where an individual
has "short" teeth, a crown lengthening
procedure will allow us to properly construct
an esthetic and functional crown, bridge, or
restoration.
Crown lengthening is a simple
surgical procedure in which Dr. Dobee adjusts
the position of the gum around the affected
tooth, thereby providing a more solid tooth
on which to anchor the restoration of choice.
A functional crown lengthening will help you
regain a beautiful smile and allow you to eat
and speak with comfort and confidence.
