Why Would You Choose a Holistic Dentist?
Did you know your mouth gives us a glimpse at the health of your entire body? That’s why we take a holistic approach to dentistry.
We gather all of the clues your oral health offer and make a mosaic of your overall health. Did you know that the bacteria in your mouth can also enter your bloodstream? These bacteria can then wreak havoc inside of your body. When that happens, it can lead to serious health issues such as cardiovascular disease. This can include heart disease, clogged arteries, and stroke.
If certain bacteria are present while you’re pregnant, you may even have an increased risk of premature birth. It turns out that low birthweight is also linked to gum disease. In addition, research has shown links between gum disease and diabetes.
In many cases, signs of certain diseases may appear in the mouth before symptoms show up in other parts of the body. Therefore, finding them and treating them in a timely manner is crucial for your health. Our dedicated team seeks to promote your overall health while providing you with very best dental care. To safeguard your health we use only the latest technology. These include Digital X-Rays with the most minimal radiation and mercury-free fillings.
We also use highly conservative dental procedures that put your overall health first. In our office, we use only the finest and most highly rated biocompatible products. These products are ones that show the lowest toxicity to patients on a cellular level. They are also BPA Free. Some examples of non-biocompatible dental products include fillings with mercury and crowns with nickel.
We Provide a Custom, Whole-Body Approach When it Comes to Your Dental Health
We are acutely aware that no two patients are the same. This is why we treat all of our patients on an individual basis. In fact, we design a holistic dental treatment plan with a whole body health approach just for you.
We also provide coaching and advice about nutrition to patients on request.
Can Holistic Dentistry Prevent Toxic Teeth?
In an episode of Dr. Oz, Dr. Gerry Curatola explained how fillings with mercury can put your health in danger.

During your visit, Dr. Dobee and her team will inspect your amalgam fillings to see if they should be removed. This finding is based on factors such as underlying decay or leakage. If we determine the fillings should be removed, we will first examine all of these fillings. This way, we can check for the structural soundness of the underlying teeth.
We will then advise you on the best option for replacing the fillings. We will also show you ways to support your body for safe removal. If you have concerns about your mercury levels please let us know as we can provide special testing.
State-of-the-Art Holistic Dentistry: Oral DNA Testing
Cutting edge DNA testing is available to ensure better results for certain conditions. We are one of only a handful of dental practices in the U.S. that use the latest DNA testing to customize the most comprehensive oral-systemic health care treatment available.
One of the most major advances in dental medicine is a simple DNA test. With that test, we can now determine the exact type and quantity of disease-causing bacteria in your mouth. The bacteria, if left untreated, can cause periodontal disease (gum disease) and tooth loss. It can affect your risk of developing other systemic diseases such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes (among others).
This powerful yet simple test is for anyone with symptoms of gingivitis or periodontal disease. These symptoms include bleeding gums, bad breath, red or inflamed gums or loss of bone around your teeth. We can administer this test prior to extensive dental procedures and in some cases, surgical clearance (such as heart surgery or joint replacements).
We can give you this test in about 30 seconds. First, we perform a gentle oral rinse as you swish a small amount of sterile saline throughout your mouth. We then send the sample to a specialized lab so they can process it.
The report will identify the bacteria associated with the gum infection and allow us to design a far more effective treatment plan. Through this state-of-the-art technology, we are now able to treat the cause of the infection and not just the symptoms.
The goal of therapy then becomes to reduce your overall bacterial risk for disease progression. As with most diseases, the earlier we detect it, the earlier we can begin targeted treatment to help stop gum disease before irreversible damage occurs.
Our Holistic Approach Can Ease Your Fear of Dental Visits
Have you ever been worried or anxious about visiting your dentist? Often patients have at least some anxiety when visiting the dentist. In others, there is an extreme fear. This fear can lead to individuals neglecting their dental health for years and sometimes decades.
Our dental team is specially trained in dealing with dental phobic patients. Besides naturally making you feel at ease, Dr Dobee is certified in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Deep Relaxation therapy. In fact she has earned a Masters degree in Neuro Lingustic Programming (NLP). NLP can be used to help eliminate dental phobia through changing how you interpret and think about dental fear.
Deep Relaxation therapy can help reduce fear, control pain and bleeding, and speed up recovery time. Please let us know when you book your appointment that you are fearful of dental procedures so we can make sure the doctor is aware of this.
